Park district teaches kids the game of chess

Children participated in a day of playing chess at the District of Oak Park’s Barrie Center Dec. 30. This three-day camp included skill practice and tips for both beginners and experienced young players. All participants learned new strategies from a chess scholars coach. Each class consisted of an interactive teaching period and a guided practice time and all campers took home a chess set and an award.
